The Churches we serve in Estill County... |
Ravenna Christian Church
The Ravenna Christian Church congregation has always been a close knit community. Since the church’s founding in 1917, several generations of the same families have attended this small “community church” located in the midst of a residential neighborhood. The annual Homecoming Sunday, when former members return to visit, is always one of their most treasured times. Another favorite is their gathering for a Potluck Dinner following the Sunday Service. These families have grown up together, played together and continue to pray together. With God’s grace, may it continue to be so! |
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Ravenna, Ky. This small brick church, established in 1932 is located at the end of Fifth St. near the colorful trees and flowers of the Daniel Boone National Forest. Under the current leadership of Sister Diane McGuirt, OP, Pastoral Director, St. Elizabeth Church continues to support the community with many programs. In August, the “Back to School” program provides children with clothing and school supplies. One of the most popular events in the county is the periodic “Basement Sale!” Whether helping with programs or serving as Lector or Eucharistic Minister, teaching their faith to the children or gathering together for worship, the members grow in their love as a “family” and a vibrant faith community! |
Williams Memorial Baptist Church
Williams Memorial Baptist Church is a small, white steepled church located in the heart of Ravenna, Kentucky. The church was chartered in 1923 and today is pastored by Brother James Ashcraft. Along with his wife Debbie and their two sons, Jim and Jeremiah, Brother Jim arrived in the mid 1990s as pastor and today leads a church of 40 active families. He is also involved in various activities of the Estill County Ministerial Association. The members of Williams Memorial Baptist Church take quite an interest in wellness activities for body, mind and spirit. |

Our Lady of the Mountains Church
Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church (OLM) began with a letter-writing campaign in the 1970s led by Ann Collinsworth. In 1984, after receiving approval as a parish, the Catholics in Powell County gathered in homes and the back of stores to pray and worship at Mass. In 1989 they dedicated their beautiful log-cabin style church in the Eastern Kentucky mountains located in Stanton, KY. Today the church continues growth as a very friendly and vibrant faith community of over 40 families. This parish is known for integrating its faith into daily life, church celebrations and outreach to the local area. Their care and concern for others is evident in close family ties and friendly social gatherings including potlucks of healthy foods and the best desserts in the county! |
